Nasturtium, or Tropaeolum majus, is a commonly known garden plant. It graced the entranceway of many of the Hobbit Holes of Bag End, if you recall. The flowers are often used in salads to add a delightful peppery flavor. Used as a tincture, Nasturtium is a lovely antibacterial, antiviral and respiratory support. It is especially helpful to make coughs productive, and is soothing to the urinary tract. It is also an anti-inflammatory herb and is supportive of overall decrease of inflammation.
Nasturtium used topically is antifungal, antibacterial and aids in the healing of wounds.
This plant may be a supportive ally if chronic upper respiratory symptoms or urinary tract symptoms present themselves. In can also be helpful as an expectorant in acute respiratory illness.
